The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has launched its Medical Cannabis Special Permit Programmes, aimed at strengthening access and inclusion for traditional ganja growers within Jamaica’s medical cannabis industry. These programmes are part of the recently gazetted regulations governing the CLA’s operations, which introduce several regulatory improvements to strengthen the licensing framework and expand access to Jamaica’s legal cannabis industry. The launch was officially held at the AC Hotel by Marriott Kingston, with Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright, emphasizing the importance of the cannabis industry as a vehicle for economic empowerment, job creation, scientific advancement, and social equity. The government is committed to building a transparent and efficient regulatory framework that supports businesses while ensuring public safety and fostering innovation and investment.
